The Fender ’59 Bassman was created originally in the ‘50s as a bass amp, hence its name. This “LTD” version is a big improvement over the previous Fender reissue of the Bassman (rectifier valve, 4 x 10’’ Jensen, pinewood cabinet...). It has great cleans, and if you want to reach the “breaking point” to get those overdriven tones, you’ll really have to crank it (and wear earplugs). The good thing is that there are various valve combinations you can try to get around this if you want. You can reach the “braking point” much sooner by switching a preamp valve for a 12AY7 (which is what the original ’59 actually had). For a vintage sound you can try a 5751 or an ECC83 for darker tones. There are many possibilities. We include TAD’s (yeah!) 12AY7, ECC83 and 12AX7 for preamp. So those are great replacements right there, and the results are outstanding! The way it’s set-up right now will let you get those natural creamy (not crunchy) overdrives for blues or rock without busting your ears.

It is in great condition. Some very light scuffs in two of the corners (hard to spot, check pictures). That’s why we’ve rated it “Excellent+”. Otherwise it’s “mint” all the way. Includes original cover and instructions manual.
