In order to celebrate the Strat's 50th Anniversary, Fender built a series of "blockbuster" models, all of them quite nice: a Mexican Strat (Aztec Gold, we had one not long ago), an American Deluxe (Aztec Gold as well), and a Masterbuilt '54 (2-tone sunburst). 

But Fender's Custom Shop also had a very limited run (of only 100!!) of 3 versions of the Strat: a '56, 60 and '65. All of them beautifully relic'd and with a very unique Aztec Gold color. This one is the '60 version, the only one of the three with a matching headstock. Simply stunning and a very rare find!

A collector's guitar indeed, but also a GREAT sounding guitar, as you might expect. It has Custom 60's pickups (these don't retail separately) that offer that era's agressive and warm sound (and not so "bell-like" as the 50's p'ups, for example).

The fretboard is very, very dark, and contrasts beautifully with the golden body.

The relic is top-grade work, not as "obvious" as other relic jobs we may find. The subtle but present checking around the whole body (and headstock!) is killer.

Aztec Gold is rarely used by Fender, usually limiting its use for commemorative editions like this one, or very sporadic masterbuilds. And this is the only relic'd Aztec Gold run in the history of Fender... ever! By the way, not an easy color to photograph correctly either, so we've included shots with outdoor natural lighting so you can compare the variations depending on the light.

The guitar's condition is absolutely immaculate. Frets show NO wear, so this looks like it's been an under-the-bed trophy for nearly 10 years! You can also tell by looking at the beautiful, dead-mint tweed case...

Includes OHSC, COA, strap, cable, trem bar, bridge cover and rest of case candy. The included 5-way selector switch was professionally installed (3-way switch included).
