1957 Fender Champ (5F1)
A piece of music history looking great and sounding even better: a 1957 Fender Champ. Twang, classic Fender cleans and monster overdrive! We just LOVE tweed Champs.
SOLD
This is a 1957 Champ in excellent condition, just look at the photos. No hum (insanely quiet, unlike many modern copies) or rattles (one of these amps' main problems, though easy to solve). An electrolytic has been changed for safety, as the volume pot, and an input jack (original pot and jack included). All the rest of the circuit appears to be original.
The tweed is in great condition, with an overall EXC+ condition. You know how hard it is to find a 57 this clean...
The Champ is a transition 57 5F1, with the "5E1" designation still on the tube chart, but obviously a 5F1, since there is no choke. This is very common for the super early 57's. Keep in mind this is from January 1957! Cabinet, chassis and speaker codes all match, marked "GA" (January 1957).
Incredible twang, superb warm clean tones, and insane overdrives. Pure Class A sound, a must-have for any serious studio, and a heck of a treat for any home player. Cleans work best with single coils, overdriven tones go best with humbuckers, in our opinion.
Tubes appear original except for the power tube (from the 60's). This has 110V transformer, so if you're using 220V you'll need a step-down transformer.
A great chance to get this magnificent piece of history.
