One of the most collectable R9s of all Historic era, the "Murphy Painted" Les Pauls have great Tom Murphy's touch not in the aging (because it has none) but in the paint job. The result is an absolutely exceptional and unrivaled "burst".
During his time at Gibson, Tom Murphy painted the first 25 R9's from 1993 and the first 200 from 1994, until he left the factory in November 2nd of that year. This officially only took place again in 2013 for the 20th Anniversary Murphy Burst run, that celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Historic Custom Shop.
This beauty left the Gibson factory in mid-October '94, and it is a Yamano import (both details confirmed by Gibson). You all know how everybody likes the Yamano's, especially since they broke their relation in 2007.
And not only does she have jaw-dropping looks, but also a monstrous tone. The neck is quite chunky, very much like an early '59 profile, which we very much like. Also, take a look at the amazing fretboard.
The guitar is in exceptional condition, no fret wear, with only some light buckle rash on the back near the control cavity, not through the finish at all and only visible when tilting the guitar against a light (it doesn't show in the photos). It has a couple of minimal dings in the back, but it is in excellent condition all over. Immaculate on the front. Incredibly well preserved for a 20-year old guitar!!
Includes original brown Gibson case (with pink interior!!), tags, Yamano tag, etc. No COA's were issued in 1994.
