Fender Tele-Bration Cabronita Telecaster

Here we have this interesting variation of the traditional Telecaster, a Tele-Bration Cabronita (made in USA), part of the 60th Anniversary Series of the Telecaster. It is a very simple guitar (only a master volume knob and a 3-way pickup switch), and offers a very particular sound, quite different from the classic Tele tone... slightly darker, but still with plenty of twang, especially in the brigde position... a very rockabilly-style sound.

Loaded with TV Jones pickups, its analogy to the Gretsch is there, but not entirely. After all, it is an alder solidbody, so there is no hollow resonance anywhere. Instead, we have the explosive touch of the Telecaster! The brigde pickup is sensational, definitely the best of the two. The neck pickup is quite thick, maybe interesting for overdriven blues leads of even jazzy tones. The combination of both pickups is pretty poweful, with the twang having a dominating presence over the dark mattress laid by the neck pickup. However, the really killer choice is the bridge pickup alone, amazing break-up when notes are attacked. Unrivaled rockabilly sound for a solidbody guitar in this price range, period! Only 500 ever made in 2-Tone sunburst.

In a practically new condition... yes, another case queen. As you can see, the alder grain patterns are pretty wild, especially near the neck. In one of the patterns the nitro lacquer filtered through, creating a very tiny "pool". Very small, no way to photograph it, very hard to spot (to be honest, we didn't notice it until we pulled the magnifying glass out, you have to tilt the guitar against the light to see it). It's obviously no big deal, just though we'd mention that.
